3 days passed since Erepublik V1 became public. My conclusions:
1. Short term it was a very bad decision, because:
- still there are bugs to be resolved;
- still we have to work more on scalability;
- the citizens were not yet prepared for all the huge changes we have done in the game mechanics;
- a complete change in the design hard to be digested in a short period.
2. Long term it was a very good decision, because:
- there were much problems in Beta that in long term would not allow the project to develop, as later as we’ve made the change, as harder the change would have been;
- instead of having 2 projects to work on (beta and V1 development) we now have one version where is much easier to fix problems and add new features on it.
- we had 35.000 people putting pressure on us to launch “NOW”;
- we now have 35.000 people putting pressure on us to improve the project “NOW”;
I address a big THANK YOU to all the citizens that trust in our power to resolve those problems and to improve the project furthermore. I also address a big THANK YOU to all the citizens that are telling us what they don’t like in V1. I know that they tell us because they care about Erepublik.
At least for me 3 days of V1 were like 3 months of Beta.
You need to take out raw materials for now. Their implementation is not working well and many people can not work because their employers do not have enough raw materials.
You should just take things one step at a time instead of trying to make everyone take it in all at once.
Good work, surely a lot to improve, but it’s getting there ![]()
Some people are saying that they wished more features in V1. Very important for V1 is the resources/raw materials module.
We give each day for free raw materials this month.
As I said, a matter of created expectatives, perhaps a lack of communication with the citizens about what was going to change and how.
Now that we are on it, the faster stability is reached, the best
What about the people who bought resource companies? How do we make ANY profit ? You guys need to fix the formulas or let the resource companies gain resources faster right now
Yeah I do agree the launch might have been somewhat premature. You’ve done a fairly good job sorting it all out though. However I think a longer test period would have been necessary. The “public test” was a complete failure I think because;
1) It was too short
2) Everyone could login
Hopefully you learn from most of the things you do and take this with you.
Now all you need to do is sort some minor issues out and release the API for testing. Maybe do a more closed API test and see what people think and get some valuable feedback before you decide its good for public release.
Just some thoughts
Thanks for a great game!
